ok thats all fine and good but if its such a reliable power source why are routers extrenally powered? why use 240- to 12v when you could internally scale the 50v down to 12v?

Phones didn't used to have to get plugged into both the line and household current, they were simpler, and the phone line had enough current to make them work.
