I try not to complain about Youtube's politics much because it's free. So fuck it. My wallet is the same width no matter what they do. But that aside, 99% of the people I watch have way less than 1000 subscribers. In fact most of them have 100 or less. Because they'r'e real. They do it for the laughs. No rules. Dawson, Phil, etc...they were in the right place at the right time. They are good at what they do but so are countless others. They got lucky. Keep doing what you do, Dude.

Good points! Though, it's one thing to have quality vids and "cheat" to get exposure. That I can accept...It's a whole different thing when you're getting all these subs and the vids suck as with this pieceofmeat guy.

ThaTruth What annoys me is SxePhil, Shane Dawson and Ray William Johnson all do exactly the same thing as each other. They just talk about the news and post videos way too frequently, I lost count of the amount of times SxePhil mentioned Tiger Woods in his videos a couple of months back. I ended up unsubscribing to him because he became so boring. The same with Shane Dawson all he talked about was his surgery and how he shouldn't be making videos but he didn't want to let his fans down.

I just watched the video you're responding to and I think it's just bullshit. First of all, this guy is a friend of a guy who became popular by showing other people's videos that were popular. Now talk about creating content and "morality". hehe. Lucky I'm not a part of this game, cause if I were Shane Dawson or even Fred, I would be pissed off. I guess that Will's video is an attempt to defend his friend's position in YT rankings.

When I first came to youtube in 2006 (created my account much later) the partnership program wasn't as big as it is now. I'm really disappointed that it's like it is now. My favorite video on youtube, from 2006, was made by a user that only had a couple hundred views, and no fame. It was actual user content. Made by one guy. I really miss the way youtube used to be. And I agree with everything you just said. :D

They just want to keep their clique on top period. And honestly, i really don't care about their clique, talent or not. I don't care if anyone gets mad either. I"m not infatuated with youtube "celebs" but i also don't care to be on top either. If i did want to be on top though, i still wouldn't worry about impressing them, I do like some of them but they may not like me because i talk about some of their friends so lol oh well.

Excellent philosophy! The way this "community" is set up, is entirely broken, and promotes a select few and only those few, because they're the best for business.
